Why can't I log in with Safari (MacOS)?

Hey all,

I've been having this problem for a while now. I cannot log into any Meister program with Safari. I use Firefox instead - but I'd rather not.

  • I'm using Safari 16.5
  • In Settings, I've turned off, then on, "enable content blockers"
  • I've allowed and blocked Pop-up Windows

Any suggestions? Safari is one of the recommended browsers - so I'm not sure why I'm having this issue.

    Joerg,

    I am able to login with other Macs. I'm guessing I may have some setting on my primary computer that is stopping my login. I'll dig around. Thanks for the suggestion!

    One other note - I can log into this community using Safari. Just not the programs themselves.

    I believe our friend @Joerg Koper can give us a hand confirming here if he has the same issue because I got no iOS devices at hand to test it out.

    Hi @Peter McCarthy - thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear about this issue! I wasn't able to immediately replicate this issue on Safari on my M1 Mac using MacOS (Big Sur) and Safari 14.1.2.

    A couple of questions might help us investigate this further - are you using any Single-Sign-On protocol (e.g. signing in with Google, Apple, MS Teams)? Also: can you describe what exactly is happening when trying to log in? Are you receiving any specific error messages?

    I'm unfortunately not working with a Mac @Andres D'Andrea. Only iOS.

    Thanks for the response Andrew. I'm logging in with my Meister account like below. I click on Log In and nothing happens. No error code - it just does nothing.

    Thanks for the extra info and screenshot, @Peter McCarthy — very strange! I still wasn't able to replicate this on my end, my only final piece of advice would be to clear cookies in Safari and try again (alternatively, try logging in via Private browsing mode: Shift + Command + N).

    In the meantime, I'm escalating this to our devs for debugging. Please let me know if these fixes don't work!

    Cleared cache and cookies. Tried Private Browsing mode. No go.
