Search is a nice feature, but it's slow and inaccurate.

  • Please provide search configuration capability (default search of only tasks, or only projects, include archived tasks or only active)
  • Pre indexing of tasks and projects, cause search is slow
  • Prioritization of open tasks over archived

    Hi @Nikita Tretyakov ,

    thanks for the feedback. From my experience, several of your listed ideas are already possible.

    • You can easily search just for tasks, or project, or archived task or active tasks by using the filters in the search window
    • You can index your tasks by adding tags to them. And then you can search for them by using the filters tasks and tags.

    great, I was also referring to search. I am happy to report at many of the things you mentioned are already possible. For example, how to search for archived tasks:

    1. Open Search
    2. Enter your keyword.
    3. Add the filter > tasks > archived

    aha! thank you, that indeed helps!

    The only thing which would have been especially cool is to setup default search. Or have active tasks the priority over the archived one turned on by default without the filter. Cause in majority of cases we in our practice only really need to search for (1) active (2) tasks so it's quite annoying to navigate between cards and having all the archived cards in the way.

    In that case I would recommend that use the filters Tasks > Active, that should limit the search result to just the active tasks, and you won't be bothered with having all archived tasks in the way. And you will only see a list of all active tasks minus the archived ones.

    Thanks again for the explanation — the filters definitely help!

    That said, it would be really helpful if the default behavior prioritized active tasks (or allowed setting a default search filter). Many users — especially those who prefer keyboard-driven workflows (like using Ctrl+K and arrow keys) — rely on speed and minimal interaction. Having to manually apply filters each time slows down the process and forces mouse usage, which breaks the flow.

    Even just having active tasks show up before archived ones by default would go a long way. Appreciate your support and consideration!

    Thanks for the info and the clarification 👍 I can totally see how that would be super helpful in the future. I am going to update this thread if MeisterTask at one point decides to make changes to the Search or implements this feature :)
