Vote to Save Legacy Mindmaps!!

Hi all,

I've been using Mindmeister for over 10 years so it was despair when I saw the 'New Editor'. Imo inferior to the legacy in so many key aspects.

I've managed to tolerate it 'New' by ignoring and using old (though I haven't been able to collaborate like before as that automatically converts maps to New). Now we're told that Legacy will be decommissioned in the coming month. Looks like I'm going to forced to consider other options..

The 'Legacy' was a really well thought through product with a great UI and UX.

The 'New Editor' is visually noisy (UI and output), less efficient and in some key ways less or more inferior functionality (i.e. ability to paste a link directly on to the node).

What's shocking from a product management perspective is how such a big change has been forced on to the user base with little or no consultation.

It could just be me but I can't believe anyone who has used the legacy editor would prefer the new one.I've created a poll to gauge feedback:

Would be interesting to see what the community thinks.

I've little confidence that the product team will change course but one can only try :)

I have very similar thoughts to yours. I have been using Mindmeister for almost 14 years and much prefer the original mindmaps format. I use the todo function for nodes ( I do not want to switch to Meistertask for simple completeion dates) and this just disappears when opening in the new editor. I am now looking at alternative platforms to move to.

100%. The old mindmaps were far better. I don't know why they change a great system to a clumpy one.

It feels like the someone new mind came in without real understanding or alignment with the original product vision or deep usage of mind maps. What's strange is how the 'New' is such a huge step backwards.

Any reasonable attempt at getting customer feedback would have identified this.

@product management - if anyone is reading this or cares. Please stop. Not too late :)

I've been a big fan of MM for years—probably 8+ but the mandatory switch to "New" is forcing me to consider other platforms.

The "new" is barely functional. It takes so many more clicks to get stuff done. Pasting to a node is impossible with the keyboard any longer. Trying to view an image full size in a node n now takes 3 clicks to get to the ability to see full size; Legacy was only one. Aligning an image takes many more steps.

MM also aggravated me regarding the collaboration tools' development progress. After all these years, it befuddles me that you can't tell who contributed what in a map-making/brainstorming session.

the downside… I have about 100 maps that I will have to recreate on another platform.

What is the upside for the new platform?
