Can I restore a deleted Section and its Tasks?

Hi,

We are using the Free version of MeisterTask and apparently someone deleted an entire Section and all the tasks inside it. It's gone so we're assuming it got deleted.

This leads to a few questions:

1. Is there any Audit Log that we can see who did what to figure out if someone really did delete the card, who it was, when it happened, etc?
2. Is there a way to Restore the deleted Section from a recycle bin or anything like that? We usually have people accidentally move tasks around, which we can just move them back. This is the first time we've had someone delete an entire Section.

Hi @Mike B ,

no worries, you can restore deleted tasks on the free Basic plan. However, as you have seen in the screenshot, you cannot search for deleted tasks specifically. However, you can search for all tasks in general. (In other words, you cannot apply filters on the Basic plan, which would allow you to only search for deleted tasks.)

So I would recommend the following:

1. Open the project board, where the section was deleted.
2. Open the projects activity stream. You should be able to see which tasks were deleted. You can see who deleted it, deletion date and task title. Remember one task title.
3. Open the search function from the left sidebar, by clicking on the first icon.
4. Type in the title.
5. Click on the search result.
6. Click on the three dots in the right hand corner to access the settings.
7. Click restore.

Repeat this process for all task that you would like to restore. I hope that helps.

I am very sorry to say, that you can not restore an entire section in bulk. You can restore all task, but you would need to make and custom the section manually again.

Regarding your questions:

1. There are two sort of "logs" available:
   1. The activity stream in the task, which is at the bottom of each task
   2. They activity stream in each board
2. There is unfortunately no way to restore a deleted section, but you can restore all tasks and create the section manually again.

A solution for the future to prevent someone from deleting a section would be to assign different roles and permission to users. This feature is available on Pro and Business plan.

I can't view the Activity stream on a task since the task was deleted.

The Board's activity stream seems to just mention edits and things but I don't see any Deletes in there.

Can I restore deleted tasks from the Free version? Then I could at least see who deleted it in the first place. We are a small church and can't afford a paid version. Your website says that Searching for deleted tasks is a paid feature. It doesn't say that restoring tasks at all is a paid feature, yet it's blocked. The instructions should say "Restoring deleted tasks is only available to users on Pro or Business plan."

So this means that as a free user, once a task is deleted, it's gone forever with no way to recover it? That's great…

OK. I see how that could work.

Is there a way to view the Activity Stream in a bigger area than the little side bar thing that pops out? Since it records everything, I have to scroll down over and over and over just to get it to go back more than a week or so.
