Hi @Eva Schindler,

Are there any plans for an integration to Thunderbird and other non-Microsoft product like BlueMail? 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I have noticed that many non-enterprise customers aka SMBs have realized they do not need Microsoft in order to run their business - so applications like Thunderbird turns out to be preferred as the email client 🧐

The ones that are moving in the direction of LinuxMint (You can use 2012 hardware and have a better experience regarding performance than a brand-new Windows computer 🤫 ) will have Thunderbird & LibreOffice available a first hand (and included in the automatic package upgrades...).

@jbmoller Thanks for sharing! While there aren’t any specific plans to create a direct integration with thunderbird, it could be a good feature request in the community so feel free to post it in the MeisterTask Ideas section.

MeisterTask crafted the Outlook integration to cater to our current Microsoft customers’ e-mail platforms, which still represent a huge part of our user base. Other than that, we’ve got other e-mail integrations which are cross-platform, for example, e-mail to task. :)

☝ As Linux user and promoter myself, I really like to see how common these types of requests are getting over time.

However, the reality is that most of open-source users and promoters like us end up left a bit on the back burner. The impact of developing for such platforms provides not enough returns for the investment it would take 💵💰💵💰💵💰💵💰💵

One could argue that Linux usage is even more significant than macOS, but we would be fooling ourselves, considering that the source of that "fact" is a community full of "extremely technical people" (developers from StackOverFlow).

Just take a look at the global trend of Operating Systems market share over the last 10 years:

Sure, Windows market share is going down ⬇ and Linux up ⬆… The difference is minimal, if perceptible at all, though.

So, I don't like not having official integrations between commercial and open-source solutions, but most of the time, we can only face the reasons behind that reality and take it "as is", or do something about it.

Luckily for us, we also have Github and other communities of open-source devs with enough motivation to take the API docs and write some useful solutions. Those with the need or the will to learn can write some code too.

Look, I just found 44 repositories in GitHub related to MeisterTask alone 🥳
