How do I print my mind map "Outline"?

Is it possible to print the Outline of the mind map? When I look at the outline on my screen everything is in the correct order but when I export to a pdf of the whole mind map and outline, the outline order is now all over the place.

Hi @Deb B and welcome to the community 👋🙂

When you create a mind map, it is important to remember that MindMeister only sees the order in which the items were created.

So if you change the order of these items later, MindMeister will still print them as they were created. I have covered this topic more detailed in this post. I hope this helps you out.

Thanks for that. It would be great in future updates if MindMeister was a bit more dynamic. Often the process of mind mapping is to just get stuff out of your head and then arrange it in the order you want it later. There is an obvious benefit to then being able to print whichever version of the map and the 'outline' that you are working with. Do you know if there are any plans for this in the future or if there is another way it can be done?

Definitely agree with your feedback here Deb, and have forwarded this on to our product team. I also find the order of the map outline to be somewhat unintuitive. Our team is currently reviewing this — I'll keep this and the other thread Jörg mentioned updated with our plans.

Yes, I too use MindMeister to brainstorm or to summarize information and then print it out in an outline form. That is all I need…the ability to export or print the mindmap as it is in Outline view.

Have you tried to view the Mind Map in outline mode and pressing CTRL/P for print? This way you can print the outline or just download the PDF or whatever format your system offers. The print menu offers a number of options for customising the result to your needs. I hope I got your question right and this helps you out.

Indeed, going to print was the first thing I tried. The issue is that it only prints the first page of what is likely 4-5 pages of an outline. Is there another way to have it print the full length?

you're very welcome ;o) You normally have the option, to make settings for printing the mind map. You may have a look at the settings and try to play with the paper format, for example. Please keep in mind, that the options in the settings vary depending on the chosen device for printing.

Yes, I had already looked into those printer settings. It's already on Landscape mode, and I've gone through every other setting as well. I'm familiar with adapting these, ie.d print area, etc on other programs. Unfortunately, I keep running into this issue only on Mindmeister. For privacy reasons, I've decided not to attach a screenshot, but here's what I can describe for you:

The bottom of the print dialogue shows "1 of 1 pages." It contains content from 2 of 9 nodes from the map. I expect the full document would be closer to 4 pages. My printer is HP OfficeJet Pro 8030. I don't know if you've seen this before with other HP printers, but it's something to take note of. I can't imagine anything else I can do on my side of this issue.

I don't expect that I'll have any further success with this. I do hope, however, this information is useful to your team. Thanks for your help!

• Please send a screenshot or video with the developer console open. To open the developer console in Google Chrome, open the Chrome Menu in the upper-right-hand corner of the browser window and select More Tools > Developer Tools. You can also use Option + ⌘ + J (on macOS), or Shift + CTRL + J (on Windows/Linux).
