Why am I having editing difficulties?

I cannot get rid of the bar and cannot move the connections where I want. I hope there is something I am doing wrong because I regret so much buying this app right now!

Any ideas of how to close the window once I press the ellipsis icon? and liberate the possibility to freely position the connecting lines?
