Is it me, or is mindmeister flaky, buggy and creates a nervousness around relying on it

It seems quite often I come to mindmeister and something goes wrong.

Either internet connection causes changes not to be recorded, or the features don't work as expected.

Firstly my internet service is not that bad. The tool in my humble opinion should be able to handle some moments where the connection gets lost. I'm not sure if its my end or Meister's servers having a moment. Either way…. COME ON!!! it should be able to handle this.

As for the features not working as expected. Really disappointing. I don't have time to be trying to figure out what went wrong or what did I just do. I just want to use a mindmap with some simple use cases. And those features doing what they say out of the box. The most recent one was exporting a mindmap to freemind format. All the images in the exported map were replaced with one image that could be found in the original. I just rolled my eyes and didn't have time to try it again for the 3rd time.

In the past I lost data in a very important and pivotal mindmap in my day to day work. There was no version history and I was royally screwed. That created huge nervousness whenever I come back. And when I do, something seems to go wrong. Are you stress testing the tool consistently?

The issue I am having now, is that when I try to create a connection line, it crashes. Even on a new account I created, this issue happens. I can't believe such a HUG BUG van persist for over 48 hours now!!

Hi, I am Cornelia from Meister 👋

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns about your experience with MindMeister. I’m really sorry to hear about the issues you've been facing, and I can understand how frustrating these situations must be, especially when they impact your work so significantly.

Regarding the connectivity issues, MindMeister is a web based tool, so having a stable connection is a prerequisite for a good experience. If the interruptions are frequent or prolonged, it might not work properly. It would be helpful to know if you see any error messages during these times so we can better understand what might be going wrong.

For the feature malfunctions, specifically the problems with exporting maps in the Freemind format and the repeating image issue, this certainly isn’t the experience we want you to have.

Regarding the loss of data and the absence of version history, I understand how critical this can be. MindMeister provides a version history, if this feature did not work as expected, it’s something we need to look into immediately to prevent future occurrences. In general, you can look here what kind of version history is available for your plan.

As for the problem with creating connection lines that causes crashes, this is concerning, and not something we want any user to experience. Our team has been made aware, and has already confirmed that this is a bug. If we have any updated to share, then we will update the thread here.

Your feedback is invaluable, and I assure you that we are taking your concerns seriously. We aim to provide a reliable and user-friendly tool, and clearly, we have some areas to improve. If you would like more detailed information, then you can also contact our Meister Support. You can find more information how to contact Support here. If you choose to dive deeper into one of the described issues and choose to contact our specialists in the Support: Please provide them with the specific details or steps you took before encountering this problem. This information will be crucial for our team to replicate and address the issue more effectively.

Thank you for your patience and for bringing these issues to our attention.

@Cornelia Patscheider Ok, great. Good to hear. I asked because your collegue already told me the dev team is working on it. How has this been going on for almost 2 days now without anyone complaining?

    @Roberto Lamsberg

Our support team hasn't received other complaints about it, so it isn't affecting every account which means it took longer for us to turn our attention to it!

As soon as I saw your post in the community, I spoke with the devs.

I'll update the original thread when the devs have taken a look at the issue.

    Best,

    Miša

P.S. I believe Cornelia was replying to Tarlochan's concerns!

Miša Hennin, strange… are you aware of the fact that on newly created accounts this bug also exists?

Try to create a new account and then a new mindmap, and after that try to make a connection line. You'll see the bug also. Also a newly created account on a different browser (chrome instead of safari) shows this.

Yes, you mentioned in the other thread, and I've already told the devs that this is the case. :)
