Collaboration using public links is broken

Can someone explain in simple terms how I set up collaboration between a personal account user and a free account user so they can collaborate.

One time links sent by email only seem to work once. Does that mean I have to send a new email every time I want someone else to edit my mindmap?

The public links don't work at all I get a message saying there is a problem and we know about it →refresh and we get the map flash on the screen and the message again.

Does the collaboration feature only really works if both people have paid up accounts. IE the collaboration is via teams. That makes the much boasted about collaboration features only available after buying two accounts t $150 per user of $300 per year.

Its not quite what was promised in the advertising.

Please explain.

    Hi @David ke ,

I am sorry if you are experiencing any issues with this, I know how frustrating this can be. Can you please provide more details what you mean by "public" link?

So, here is my recommendation how a user on a Personal plan can collaborate with a user on a Basic plan:

    • Collaboration is free: Collaboration between users is not a paid feature. You do not have to have a paid account, no worries.
    • How to share a mind map: Every time you create a mind map, you can decide who should get access. You have to set the permission for every user in every mind map.
    • Bug: You mention that "The public links don't work". I am very sorry that you experiencing this issue. If you want the Meister team to look into this bug then I would recommend contacting the Meister Support team and explaining the issue in details.

Please keep in mind the following if you are on a paid plan and the other user is on a free plan:

    • If you're on a paid subscription, you can share your mind map with anyone via a link without needing users to sign up or log in. This allows anyone with the link to access your mind map directly.
    • You can choose whether to give your collaborators read-only or editing rights.
    • Basic users can only have a total of three maps in their My Maps area. If you are a paying user and you share a mind map with a Basic user who already has three maps, they will not be able to collaborate.
    • Paying users can use all advanced features in MindMeister, even when collaborating with a Basic user.
    • Basic users can see advanced features (such as image uploads) but cannot add them.

You can find more helpful information about collaboration here in the Help Center. I hope that helps.
